The River in the Neighborhood

Hi there,

So up north is home to a lot of beautiful sceneries of springs, rivers, lakes, hills and mountains. At my local village springs flow downhill from the mighty Mount Kilimanajaro every morning and dry up in the evening. And then down my late grandfather’s farm there’s a river which has white waters during the wet season.

Near my father’s place there’s a river. It’s beautiful, it’s surrounded by tall trees on either sides and in far distance there are farms all over the the place. I loved watching the river valley from afar because our house is located on the side of a hill. One day I decided to take a walk down the valley. I didn’t expect it to be a crazy hiking activity. When I got at the river I met girls from down the river picking vegetables. I asked them for the way down and they showed me. They also warned me of the many harsh ants found in the place.

My journey down the valley wasn’t very hard. When I got down the sound of water gushing against the large igneous rocks welcomed me with joy, and I could feel the breeze brushing over my face. I started walking, jumping from one rock to another and then, right there in front of me I found raspberries. I was so delighted that when I started picking I walked further from the road back up. The sound of birds flying back to their nests is what alerted me that it was getting late.

I carried the raspberries and started my journey back home. This time the journey wasn’t all easy I slipped a couple times from the wet rocks and streams that created mud on the path. Then worse enough I heard dogs barking and when I got at the top of the hill I found them there. They had broken free from their master and joined a bunch of stray dogs. In shock I stood stationary on a place where I shouldn’t have stood. There was “an ant trek” travelling and when I stood there and blocked their way they started moving up my feet angrily. I am glad the dog’s master showed up in time for me to run away from the angry ant mob before they make me their supper.I went home safely with berries and had them as part of my evening snack.
