If

If my faithless, dumb, naive self had just sat down and waited

If I had been patient enough,

If I had that mustard faith I always read about as a child

If I hadn’t touched the people I met on the way

If I hadn’t been involved, then nobody would have been hurt.

They say words have a profound way of touching people’s hearts

Well mine didn’t just touch

They brought walls crumbling down, emotions torn apart,

Scratching hard on wounds and memories of old.

But only if I hadn’t moved

If I had sat down with God, be patient and faithful.
