I used to say thanks for the cross,

I was just grateful for it,

I was grateful that Christ died for me

Yet not knowing why the death was necessary

But now I know,

 

I’ll tell you why

 

Through one man’s disobedience,

Death entered the world.

The moment the act of disobedience took place,

Death had power over man.

Attempts for redemption were done, but none worked.

 

Until one man obeyed.

 

And through one man’s obedience,

The power was given back to us,

Man had power over death.

Remember, Christ had the power of God

He could have run away, but He didn’t.

 

He obeyed.

 

Lucifer reigned in bluff in Sheol

And when Christ went down

He argued that only sin could kill a man.

And Christ told him that He carried the sins of the world.

That is what allowed Him to get there.

 

Time for freedom yeeey!

 

He took the keys of death and Hades

He set free those who were in bondage

And to us who are alive

His blood and His Spirit.

The reason for Calvary: Our power. Our victory.
